A man has been killed in a two-vehicle crash on the A48 in Gloucestershire.

Police said his Subaru Impreza caught fire after it was in a collision with a van at Minsterworth at about 0317 GMT on Wednesday.

The other driver was freed from the Mercedes Sprinter, and suffered a fractured leg and other injuries.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The road was closed and reopened soon before 1300 BST on Wednesday.

Officers, firefighters and paramedics attended the accident scene.

A police spokesman said cones had been left in the carriageway to protect vehicles from the damaged surface.

He added that further delays were likely on Thursday when the road was due to be resurfaced.

The van driver was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
