Minchinhampton walker finds suspected World War II bomb

A bomb disposal team was dispatched after a walker found what is thought to be a World War II bomb in a Gloucestershire town.

The man discovered the device with a metal detector on Minchinhampton Common on Butt Street at about 1600 BST on Sunday, and called the police.

A force spokesman said the bomb disposal team safely removed it.

The road was closed for about three-and-a-half hours and a nearby home evacuated as a precaution.
