Man arrested over belt attack in Clacton bar

A man has been arrested over an attack in a bar toilet that left the victim needing surgery.

A 34-year-old man was assaulted with a belt in Bentley's Bar in Clacton, Essex, in the early hours of Sunday and suffered a serious gash to his face.

The bar's owner put up a £5,000 reward, while the victim's father shared images of his son's injuries on social media.

A 23-year-old from Clacton is being questioned on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The victim, who police have decided not to name, needed surgery to his face after being slashed with the belt during an argument.

Essex Police has appealed for witnesses from the bar or adjoining hotel on Marine Parade East.
