Fire destroys roof of 150-year-old pub at Great Wakering

The roof of a 150-year-old pub has been completed destroyed in a fire, Essex Fire and Rescue Service said

An adult and two children are treated for the effects of smoke inhalation after The Red Lion in Great Wakering, Essex, caught fire overnight.

When crews arrived they reported the roof of the pub and the first floor were completely alight but firefighters extinguished the flames by 06:45 BST.

The injured people were treated by the ambulance service, the spokesman said.

Five fire engines were called to the scene.
