Chelmsford man, 24, appears in court on Brian Hurry murder charge

A 24-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 78-year-old man in Essex.

The body of Brian Hurry, 78, was found at his home in Great Baddow just after 17:00 BST on Saturday.

Michael McDonald, of Tennyson Road, Chelmsford, was remanded in custody by the city's magistrates on Thursday and the case committed to crown court.

A post-mortem examination showed Mr Hurry suffered head injuries caused by a blunt object.
