Big Brother's Chantelle Houghton loses Closer battle
Reality television star Chantelle Houghton has failed in a bid to force a magazine to reveal the source of a story it planned to publish.
Ms Houghton, 31, from Wickford, Essex, wanted Closer to reveal the name of its source after claiming that information relating to her had been leaked.
But Mr Justice Hayden refused the request at the High Court in London.
Details of the information Ms Houghton said had been leaked cannot be revealed for legal reasons.
Ms Houghton, who shot to fame while appearing on Channel 4's Celebrity Big Brother in 2006, was not at the hearing.
Mr Justice Hayden told her lawyer that launching an inquiry into the identity of the source would serve no benefit.
He told the court: "The integrity of sources is fundamental to the operation of a free press in a democratic society."
