Six people have been arrested over the death of a man found stabbed 102 times in an Essex park.

James Attfield was found dead in Castle Park off Guildford Road, Colchester, on 29 March.

Three women and three men were arrested earlier at homes in the areas of Colchester, Ipswich and Southend, Essex Police said.

All six people are being questioned by detectives at police stations across Essex and Suffolk.

Essex Police said a 25-year-old woman from Southend, an 18-year-old man of no fixed address, and a 57-year-old man from Colchester were arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 23-year-old woman from Ipswich was arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

A woman and a man, both aged 27 and from Colchester, have been rearrested after being on bail after having been previously arrested in connection with the murder.

In April, a reward of up to £5,000 was offered to find the killers of Mr Attfield.

Essex Police have said his death is being investigated "in parallel" with the killing of a Saudi Arabian student Nahid Almanea, who was found stabbed 16 times in June, also in Colchester.
