Hockley assault victim named by Essex Police

A man who died after being assaulted in Essex has been named by police.

Peter Wilmot, 41, was found unconscious in Broad Walk, Hockley, by a member of the public on Saturday.

He was taken to Southend University Hospital before being transferred to Romford, but he died two days later.

A post-mortem examination showed the man, from Colbert Avenue, Southend, died of head injuries. Glen Cooper, 36, of Broad Walk, Hockley, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

He has been remanded in custody until 6 May, when he is due to attend Basildon Crown Court.
