Colchester death: Kirsty Humphrey died of knife and chest stab wounds

A young mother died from stab wounds to her neck and chest, tests have shown.

The body of 23-year-old Kirsty Humphrey was found dead in a flat on Wednesday morning in Queen Elizabeth Way, Colchester.

A 24-year-old man from Colchester continues to be held in custody on suspicion of Ms Humphrey's murder.

Ms Humphrey's four-year-old daughter, who was in the house at the time her mother died, is currently being cared for by relatives.

Police are continuing to appeal for information about Ms Humphrey's death.
