Light snow flurries fell over Essex overnight but police continued to warn drivers to "be prepared".

More heavy snow is forecast by the Met Office for Sunday afternoon.

The A12 southbound at Marks Tey in Essex was closed for a short time on Saturday as large icicles hanging from a bridge had to be cleared.

Greater Anglia Trains said it would be running planned services on all routes through the county on Saturday and Sunday but warned of engineering works.

"Engineering works will be taking place this weekend on some routes and customers are advised to check their planned journey before setting out."

Full details of engineering work can be found on the Greater Anglia website.

Essex Police called on motorists to ensure their vehicles were ready for poor driving conditions and consider taking a blanket and shovel for long journeys.
