Flood warnings remain in place in Essex, including one for Chelmsford and its cricket ground.

Water levels in the River Brain, from Black Notley to Witham, are continuing to rise, the Environment Agency said.

The River Colne, from Halstead to Lexden, is also high but is now stabilising, it added.

Flood warnings have now been removed for properties along the River Wid from Ingatestone to Writtle, but the area remains on flood alert.

The agency is asking people to monitor its website for updates.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service said it has taken "dozens" of calls from motorists stranded in standing water on Thursday.
