A sixth teenager has been arrested in connection with the death of a 17-year-old boy outside a house party in Essex.

Police are investigating the stabbing of Jay Whiston in Marlowe Way, Colchester, on Saturday.

A 17-year-old boy from Colchester was arrested on suspicion of murder at lunchtime on Tuesday, police said.

Two other 17-year-old boys and two 18-year-old men are being questioned on suspicion of murder. Another boy, also 17, has been released without charge.

Jay, an A-level student of Aster Close, Clacton, suffered abdominal wounds and was taken to Colchester General Hospital where he died a short time later.

Police said he had been attending a party organised via the social networking site Facebook.

A spokesman said the use of Facebook in organising the event would form part of the "background" to their investigation.
