Murder charge over Ongar farm death

A man has been charged with murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a man died at a farm in Essex and another was injured.

Police were called to the farm off Mill Lane, in Ongar, at 21:30 BST on Friday. A 39-year-old man died at the scene.

Paul Groves, 33, from Queensway in Ongar, will appear before magistrates in Chelmsford on Monday.

A 66-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail.

The man who died has yet to be named, but Essex police said he was from the Ongar area.

A provisional post-mortem examination showed that he died from head injuries.

A second man, aged in his 50s and from Barking, east London, sustained head and chest injuries. He remains in a stable condition at a nearby hospital, police said.
