A 43-year-old man has been charged with murdering a woman in Essex who died after suffering multiple stab wounds.

Martin Bunch, of Southchurch Road, Southend, has been charged with the murder of Jeanette Goodwin, 47.

She was found by police at an address in Quebec Avenue, Southend, on Sunday and was taken to Southend University Hospital, but died later from her injuries.

Mr Bunch is due before Southend Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Police said a provisional cause of death has been given as multiple stab wounds.
