A man who stabbed his partner to death in Essex has been acquitted of her murder but jailed for manslaughter after a jury agreed he was provoked.

Ronald Edwards, 65, had denied the murder of Sylvia Rowley-Bailey, 66, at the couple's home in Matching Road, Hatfield Heath, on 11 June last year.

He was jailed for five years at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday.

Speaking after the case, Essex Police said Edwards had repeatedly stabbed Mrs Rowley-Bailey during an argument.
