Theft victim knocked unconscious in Clacton

A man was slashed across the face with a knife and knocked unconscious during an attack in which his wallet was stolen.

The 21-year-old victim, from Clacton, was approached by a man who demanded money in Marine Parade East in the town in the early hours of 1 January.

Police have just released details and said the offender slashed the victim's face and pushed him to the ground.

His head hit the pavement. When he woke he found his wallet had been stolen.

Officers said the offence was not reported to police until the evening of 3 January.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his mid 40s, 6ft (1.83m), of stocky build, and had jaw-length black matted hair.

He was wearing a navy blue parka coat, jeans and a black beanie style hat. He also had stubble on his face and is believed to have had a Geordie accent.
