Man injured as hit by train at Burnham-on-Crouch

A man who was hit by a train on an Essex railway crossing has suffered serious head injuries.

The man, in his 60s, was struck by the train at Ferry Road, Burnham-on-Crouch, shortly before 1750 GMT on Tuesday.

Emergency services administered medical treatment to the man before he was flown to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

An East of England Ambulance spokeswoman said he was in a serious but stable condition.
