Rochford fatal crash driver 'ill at wheel'

A 70-year-old man who died at the scene of a crash in Essex may have taken ill at the wheel, police said.

The man, from Hockley, was driving a Toyota Hilux which collided with a Ford Fiesta and left the road in Rochford at 1240 BST on Saturday.

The Toyota then collided with a lamppost, electricity post and a tree, police said.

The air ambulance attended and the driver was pronounced dead. A woman passenger in the Fiesta suffered shock.

Witnesses are being asked to call police.
