A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman at a hotel in Bournemouth.

The body of the woman, in her 20s, was found at the Travelodge in Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, at about 08:00 GMT.

Her family has been informed and is being supported by specially-trained officers, Dorset Police said.

The arrested 32-year-old man, from Bournemouth, is assisting detectives with their inquiries.

Officers attended the scene and a cordon was put in place.

The force said the death was being treated as suspicious and is appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Det Ch Insp Jez Noyce said: "We are carrying out a full investigation into this matter and officers have been speaking with those guests who are staying at the hotel."

One person reported seeing 12 police cars and an ambulance outside the hotel, as well as armed police searching nearby gardens.
