Twin of Bournemouth boy, 5, killed by car 'has lost best friend'

The twin of a five-year-old boy who died after being hit by a car has "lost his partner and best friend", his family has said.

Shane Junior Bartlett died after he was was struck by the vehicle while crossing Naseby Road, in Bournemouth, on Wednesday.

A crowdfunding page set up to help the family with funeral costs has so far raised more than £4,800.

The car driver, a woman in her 20s, was uninjured. No-one has been arrested.

Shane Junior, who sustained a serious head injury and died in hospital, was nearing the end of his first term as a pupil at Winton Primary School.

'So empty'

A tribute, released by police on behalf of his family, read: "He has left a hole that will never be filled, and his twin has lost his partner and best friend.

"His brothers and sister are so empty without that smile from Shane Junior."

The family thanked those who had shown their support and made donations, as well as the school.

"No words can describe how grateful we are," they added.
