Man charged over same Christchurch street armed raids

A man has been charged over a series of robberies on the same street in Christchurch.

The raids took place at a Co-op store, a petrol station shop and a convenience store all on Fairmile Road from about 17:30 GMT on Saturday, police said.

Reportedly armed with a gun, the robber stole alcohol, cigarettes and food, and in one store two people were assaulted.

A 23-year-old man from London has been charged with robbery, assault, possession of a firearm and theft.

He has also been charged with cannabis possession and is due to appear before Poole Magistrates' Court later.
