Wimborne motorcyclist killed in collision with car

A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision with a car in Dorset.

The incident in Ferndown involved a white Renault Clio and a white Kawasaki motorcycle at 14:35 GMT on Saturday on Victoria Road.

The 67-year-old Wimborne man was treated by officers and paramedics. An air ambulance was also called but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 23-year-old Ferndown woman who was driving the car was uninjured.

The area near the Westwood Avenue junction was closed while investigators examined the scene and recovered the vehicles.

Sgt Joe Pardey, of Dorset Police's traffic unit, said: "Despite the best efforts of paramedics and officers the motorcyclist was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"I am appealing for any witnesses who saw the collision or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the incident to contact police."

Car park crash

In an unrelated incident, police are also appealing for witnesses to a collision in Bournemouth in which a 23-year-old Salisbury woman was fatally injured when her black Renault Clio hit a wall.

It happened at Alum Chine car park on Alumhurst Road at about 01:00 GMT on Sunday.

She was taken to hospital where she later died.

In both cases the next of kin have been informed and the coroner notified.
