Man cleared over Bournemouth pedestrian crash death

A driver involved in a crash in Bournemouth in which a man died and a woman was seriously injured has been cleared of all charges against him.

Peter Worrall, 49, died when he was struck by Tomas Pittaway's car in Castle Lane East on 13 December 2015.

Mr Pittaway, 26, from Bransgore, Hampshire, was cleared of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The prosecution offered no evidence for a charge of driving without insurance.

A jury at Bournemouth Crown Court delivered the verdict on Friday.

Dorset Police said the crash happened at the traffic light-controlled junction close to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Chaseside.
