A murder investigation has been launched after a woman died nine days after she was found with serious head injuries outside a convenience store.

Hayley Wall, 25, was found outside Charminster Supermarket in Bournemouth on 13 December.

Dorset Police said Ms Wall died in hospital on Thursday.

Christopher Wall, 58, has been charged with wounding with intent and is due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on 19 January.

Dorset Police said it was unable to comment on the relationship between the accused and Ms Wall, although it said the pair knew each other.

In a tribute issued through the police, her family said: "We would like to say thank you to anybody who helped Hayley when she was hurt. Our little Wiggy and her beautiful smile will be sorely missed."

Det Ch Insp Neil Devoto said: "I believe that Hayley left her home in Shelbourne Road and walked to Charminster Road having suffered a head injury.

"I am keen to speak to three women who cared for Hayley outside the supermarket on Charminster Road between 21:00 GMT and 22:30 before the ambulance arrived."

Investigators have issued a CCTV image of the women and have appealed for anyone who may have passed Ms Wall in the street to come forward.
