A police officer has been charged with assaulting a man at a police station.

PC Jamie Wallis, of Dorset Police, has been charged with common assault following an alleged attack involving a 30-year-old man at Bournemouth Police Station in April.

The officer, 40, who is based at Winton Police Station, has been removed from front-line duties while proceedings are ongoing, the force said.

He is due at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
