Weymouth man held after 'Golden Monkey' drug pair fall ill

A man has been arrested after two women took a substance called Golden Monkey and fell seriously ill.

The women, aged 19 and 20, are believed to have taken the recreational drug before falling ill on Sunday.

They were reported to police by Dorset County Hospital, where their condition is described as "stable".

A 20-year-old Weymouth man has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of ecstasy.

Dorset Police said the drug, believed to be a form of ecstasy, could put people's lives in "serious danger".

Ch Insp Jim Bashiel warned people not to take such substances due to "unpredictable" and "potentially life-threatening" side effects.
