Two women are seriously ill in hospital in Dorset after taking a substance called Golden Monkey.

The women, aged 19 and 20, are reported to have taken the recreational drug before falling ill on Sunday morning.

Dorset Police said officers were alerted to the incident involving the pair from Weymouth shortly before 08:30 BST.

Ch Insp Jim Bashiel urged people not to take the substance because it could put "their life in serious danger".

He said: "You can't be sure what you're taking and the side-effects are unpredictable and potentially life-threatening."
