Murder investigation launched in Pokesdown after woman dies

A murder investigation has been launched after a Bournemouth woman who sustained head injuries on Monday died on Wednesday evening.

Julie Cook, 44, was seen having an "altercation" with a man at Pokesdown station on Monday afternoon.

She was taken to Poole Hospital after being found in a house in Clarence Park Road, Pokesdown, at 20:00 BST.

A 36-year-old man arrested on Tuesday remains in custody.

Dorset Police used CCTV to trace Ms Cook's movements, along with the man she was travelling with on the London Waterloo to Weymouth train.

They fought at Pokesdown railway station at 13:37 BST.

Det Insp Neil Phillips said: "I am particularly keen to trace two young women who were seen at Pokesdown railway station at the same time that day.

"One was carrying a white shopping bag and the other carried a handbag over her shoulder."
