A large thatch fire led to power supplies being turned off and the closure of the main route through a Dorset village.

The blaze, at a two-storey house, has shut the B3143 through Alton Pancras at the Ripp's Lane junction.

More than 60 firefighters were deployed at the height of the fire, which started at about 09:00 BST.

Residents were being advised to stay indoors. There are no reports of any injuries, the fire service said.
