The victim of a suspected murder in a Dorset barber shop died from stab wounds, police have said.

Grandmother Katrina O'Hara, 44, died following an incident at Jock's Barbers, East Street, Blandford Forum on Thursday evening.

A post-mortem examination revealed she suffered two stab wounds to her chest.

A 49-year-old man held on suspicion of murder remains under police arrest in hospital, where he is being treated for an injury to his wrist.

Following a public appeal, police said officers have located a potential weapon - a knife - near to the shop.

Ms O'Hara, who worked as a hairdresser, was earlier officially identified and named by her family.

Insp Rob Chalkley previously said the alleged offender and victim were known to each other.

On Friday, the force referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission owing to Dorset Police's "recent prior contact with people involved in this incident".
