Public urged to search for Blandford Forum weapon

Police have asked members of the public to search for a weapon following a suspected murder in Blandford Forum.

A 44-year-old died following an incident at Jock's Barbers, East Street, at 18:10 GMT on Thursday.

Residents and business owners in Orchard Street, Dorset Street and The Close have been urged to look for a knife or a sharp object.

Det Insp Neil Devoto said: "It is important, if anyone finds one, to not touch it but to contact Dorset Police."

A 49-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains under police arrest in hospital, where he is being treated for an injury to his wrist.

Police said the man and woman were known to each other.

A section of East Street remains cordoned off while forensic examinations continue.
