A man who was killed when he was hit by a car in Bournemouth loved the town, his family has said.

Peter Worrall, 49, died at the scene of the crash near the Royal Bournemouth General Hospital on Castle Lane East on Sunday.

Police said a woman also received head injuries and was in a serious but stable condition.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released on police bail.

Mr Worrall and his wife Julie moved to Bournemouth five years ago after he was promoted by his employer, Key Industrial Equipment, based in Verwood.

A family statement said he loved the Bournemouth area.

It said: "Peter was a much loved husband, brother, father, stepfather and granddad and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

"He was a popular person, both at his place of work... and the gym which he belonged to. He was liked by everyone who met him."
