A shopping centre in Weymouth is to be knocked down and replaced.

Developers want to build a new three-storey building on the site of the 30-year-old Colwell Shopping Centre in School Street.

The scheme will see the retail space replaced with 23 homes made up of studio apartments and one-bedroom flats, with two ground-floor shops.

The outline plans were approved by Weymouth and Portland Borough Council on Wednesday.
