A lorry carrying milk has been destroyed by fire at a Dorset supermarket, raising fears a nearby river will be polluted.

Dorset Fire and Rescue said six appliances and an environmental support unit were sent to tackle the blaze at Asda in Gillingham at 07:40 BST.

The Environment Agency placed absorbent pads on the River Stour over concerns about run-off of milk, oil and water.

The agency said analysis showed no significant impact on the river.

No-one was injured in the fire.
