Westbourne flats death probed by Dorset Police

Detectives are investigating the death of a man found collapsed in a flat complex with a serious head injury.

At 08:40 BST on Sunday Dorset Police received a report a man had collapsed in the communal hallway of flats in Commercial Road, Westbourne.

Officers found Daniel Sanford, 44, with a serious head injury. He died at Southampton General Hospital at 19:00.

Police have cordoned off the scene to allow a forensic investigation to take place.

Mr Sanford did not live at the block of flats where he was found, police said.

Det Insp Joe Williams, of Bournemouth CID, said: "It is not clear at this time how Daniel sustained his injury so we are trying to determine exactly what happened.

"I am keen to hear from anyone who has knowledge about Daniel's movements from Saturday morning to when he was found on Sunday morning."

The coroner and Mr Sanford's family have been informed. No one has been arrested.
