Man arrested after car plunges off Ashley Heath flyover

A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences after a car crashed through barriers and plunged off a flyover in Dorset.

The dark green BMW 325i toppled down the embankment from the A338 on to the A31 at Ashley Heath, near Ringwood, just after 00:30 BST.

The two men in the car were taken to hospital with serious injuries - one was later arrested.

He is believed to be the driver, but police refused to confirm this.

Officers have asked for witnesses, including the driver of a white Mercedes Sprinter van who may have been involved in the crash, to come forward.

The A338 westbound at the Ashley Heath Interchange, which closed for almost four hours following the crash, has reopened.
