Verwood supermarket gunman CCTV reviewed

Police are reviewing CCTV around a Dorset supermarket after a woman was threatened by a gunman.

The man demanded money from the 59-year-old as she was getting into her vehicle in the car park of Morrisons in Chiltern Drive, Verwood.

The woman screamed and the armed robber fled empty handed on Friday evening.

A police spokesman said detectives were examining footage and also urged owners of private CCTV systems in the area to come forward.

Det Insp Jock Mullen said: "This was a very distressing incident for the victim but she bravely raised the alarm and was uninjured.

"I am appealing for anyone in the area who has private CCTV from the time of the incident or before or after to contact Dorset Police urgently."

The suspect is described as aged between 30 and 40, white, of medium build, with a northern accent, wearing a black woollen hat and gloves.

Officers said they were not linking this incident to an armed robbery at a post office in Highcliffe on 18 December, or to two armed robberies and a kidnapping in Hampshire.
