Portland rescue after dog plunges 20ft from cliff

A dog has been rescued after plunging 20ft from a cliff off the coast of Dorset.

The rough collie named Jess fell from the west coast of Portland, a Dorset Fire Service spokesman said.

A member of Weymouth rope and rescue team was lowered down to help the dog, which was then lifted back up to safety in a bag.

Coastguards and fire crews from Portland aided the rescue at about 10:15 GMT on Sunday.
