A museum manager has said that a £97,000 Arts Council grant will be used to help engage people with the history and heritage of Poole in Dorset.

Michael Spender said improvements would be made to collections at Poole Museum.

And volunteers and curators would work together to research and digitise artefacts to display online and digitally in the museum.

Collections will also be linked with the new Poole Trail which explores historic sites in the town.

Mr Spender said: "The aim of this project is to enhance accessibility to and knowledge of Poole Museum's collections and ensure ongoing resilience.

"It will enable the participation of local people in the management of these important publicly-owned collections, working with museum professionals."
