BBC Radio Solent's Stand Up for Comic Relief

Can you imagine anything more terrifying than standing on stage trying to make people laugh?

Well that is the challenge fearless BBC Radio Solent mid-morning presenter Alex Dyke has taken on - and he wants your support!

For this year's Red Nose Day appeal Alex will be raising money - and hopefully a few laughs.

He will be writing a routine, then performing it in front of a crowd as part of Stand Up for Comic Relief.

Comedy favourites

Alex said: "I'm really nervous and I'm never nervous - I'm still working on a theme and a style!

"My favourite comedians are Phil Silvers as Sgt Bilko and Eric Morecambe, but I know I'm not going to be that funny."

Alex will perform his routines at Gullivers Bookshop, Wimborne on 7 March at 1430 GMT.

You can follow his progress on the mid morning programme on BBC Radio Solent.
