Man stabbed in third Weymouth weekend attack

A man was taken to hospital after being stabbed in Weymouth - the third attack in the town over the weekend.

The 20-year-old was treated after the incident in the Park District of the town early on Saturday.

Police said they do not believe the attack is related to two other incidents, which they are linking, later on Saturday night in Weymouth.

A man, 56, was critically injured in a stabbing in Ranelagh Road and a 38-year-old man was hurt hours later.

He was treated for injuries to his face and body but was not stabbed, police said.

Two men, aged 31 and 23, were arrested by detectives on suspicion of assault.

In the earlier attack, the victim, from Dorchester, was with two friends when they were approached by two other men.

A conversation took place between the groups before the 20-year-old was stabbed.

He was helped by his friends to a nearby railway station where an ambulance was called.

A man has been arrested over the incident and is being questioned.
