A Dorset nursery worker has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child.
A police spokeswoman said the allegations involved one child at the Starlight Childcare Centre at Winfrith.
She would not confirm if the person arrested on Thursday was a man or woman but said the person was later bailed.
The nursery looks after children up to the age of eight, but police would not confirm the child's age. Ofsted has temporarily suspended its licence.
A statement from police said: "A member of nursery staff was arrested on 3 February 2011. The arrested person has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
"The management team of the nursery are co-operating with police.
"It should be emphasised that this investigation is in the preliminary stages and, at this time, no person has been convicted of any offence.
"The primary concern of Dorset Police and its partner agencies - including social services - is the continued safety of all children who attend this nursery."
