A fire which ripped through a barn in Dorset, destroying 60 tonnes of straw, is under investigation.

Crews were called to the building in Langton Matravers, near Swanage, at about 1745 GMT on Tuesday.

The blaze was allowed to burn out and firefighters remained at Coombe Farm, in Coombe Hill, until the morning.

The cause of the fire is being investigated but further details are expected to be released later, a spokeswoman said.

The building contained a small amount of asbestos but the amount was "insignificant", the fire service said.

However, residents were warned to close windows and doors if they could smell smoke as a "purely precautionary" measure.
