CCTV shows Bournemouth One Stop knifepoint raid

CCTV footage has been released of the moment a customer was held at knifepoint during an attempted robbery in Dorset.

The knifeman, who had a scarf wrapped around his face, burst into the One Stop store in Anchor Road, Bournemouth, on Saturday night.

He demanded money but fled empty-handed when the female worker said she could not open the till.

The 62-year-old customer and the shop assistant were unharmed.

'Extremely distressing'

Police believe the attacker was armed with a kitchen knife.

He is described as about 6ft, of medium build and was wearing a dark hooded top, grey tracksuit bottoms, black gloves and black shoes.

Det Con Mark White, of Bournemouth CID, said: "This attempted robbery was extremely distressing for the victims.

"After the shop assistant told the offender that she could not open the till, the man made off in the direction of Benbridge Avenue.

"I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this attempted robbery, and anyone with information about the man responsible, to contact me urgently."
