West Dorset homes recycle 13 tonnes of Christmas trees

Residents in West Dorset have saved 13.8 tonnes of Christmas trees from being buried at landfill sites.

The trees were collected and composted by the district council as part of a special service run throughout January.

The trees were taken to a depot and chipped with the resulting mulch set to be used as compost.

Council leader Robert Gould said residents helped to recycle about two tonnes more than last year.
