Detectives are seeking witnesses to an incident that may be linked to the fatal stabbing of a man in Bournemouth.

Police were called to a disturbance at an address in Wimborne Road at 0220 GMT on Thursday.

The man, in his 20s and believed to be from Bournemouth, suffered a wound to his chest and died at the scene.

Police are appealing for information about a disturbance at Bar Zuka on Charminster Road at around 0130 GMT, which they said was possibly connected.

Det Insp Craig Travers said: "No complaints were made to the police officers, who remained in the area while members of the public calmly dispersed - however, it's possible that this incident may be linked with the man's death."

"I am appealing for anyone who witnessed either the altercation at Bar Zuka or the later incident along Wimborne Road, which is believed to have occurred between 2am and 2.30am, to get in touch urgently."

Five men, aged between 20 and 33, were arrested on suspicion of murder and are being questioned. Two of the arrested men were taken to hospital with head injuries.

Cordons were put in place at the junction of Wimborne Road and Hillcrest Road, and at nearby Malvern Road while forensic experts examined the scenes

A cordon was put in place at Bar Zuka later in the day.

Det Insp Travers added: "This is a highly unusual incident and I would urge anyone in the Moordown area with concerns to contact the Safer Neighbourhood Team.

"It's believed that the victim and the arrested men are known to each other and I would like to stress that other members of the public are not at risk."
