Fire has destroyed a large area of gorse and bushes alongside a public footpath in Dorset.

Crews received four calls at about 0500 GMT reporting flames on the Rodwell Trail, a disused railway line in the Wyke Regis area of Weymouth.

The fire, covering an area about 70m by 15m, was so large a second pump and retained crew was requested.

The blaze, which was extinguished by 0550 GMT, is believed to have been started deliberately.
