Hunt for robbers after Poole newsagent's knife raid

Two balaclava-clad robbers are being hunted by police after threatening a Dorset newsagent with a knife and stealing cash.

The raid happened just after 0700 GMT at McColl's in Alder Road, Poole.

Two men burst into the shop and threatened a woman working inside the shop with a knife before making off with money and cigarettes.

The worker was not injured during the robbery but police said she was left "extremely shaken".

Police said the robbers entered the store through the front entrance and left through a rear access door, and possibly drove off in a silver-coloured car.

Det Con Scott Brimicombe, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said: "This was a serious incident.

"One of the offenders had a knife and threatened the female member of staff with it before they made off with money and a quantity of cigarettes from the store."
