Sherborne driver 'impaired' by laser shone in eyes

A group of teenagers is being sought after a laser was shone into the eyes of a motorist in Dorset.

A male driver and his front seat passenger had the light shone into their eyes on the A30 in Sherborne.

The victims, a man and a woman, both 31, of Sherborne, suffered "pain and discomfort" and "temporary impairment" to their sight, police said.

Officers are seeking three teenage men over the incident on 26 October, who were in a dark blue Peugeot 106.

'Incredibly dangerous'

Police said the victims were referred to an eye specialist, but the damage to their vision was not permanent.

Pc Michelle Day, of Dorset Police, appealed for anyone with information, or other victims, to come forward.

She said: "The dark blue Peugeot, which had a registration number beginning with R, was travelling in the direction of Milborne Port. Its offside rear light was not working.

"There were three teenage men in the vehicle - the driver and two passengers. One of the passengers shone the laser into an oncoming vehicle, which is clearly an incredibly dangerous thing to do."
