Two people suffer minor injuries when a car crashes into a telegraph pole in icy conditions in Dorset.

Fire crews cut off the roof of the Volkswagen Golf to free the man and woman inside after the crash at Manston Copse Corner, near Sturminster Newton.

The occupants were not badly hurt, with the woman complaining of neck and back pains. Both were taken to hospital after the crash at about 0700 GMT.

Dorset fire service warned drivers to take care during colder conditions.

Kate Huelin, road safety manager, said: "As the weather gets colder and wetter, drivers need to be more aware of the conditions on the road and this should affect their driving style.

"You should allow more time for the journey... avoiding unnecessary breaking in icy conditions and give other drivers room."
